Leaders FAQs
What about safety during Audacious?
Audacious will do all that it can to ensure the safety of your young people while you are at our conference. This will include clearly identifiable stewards and staff at Audacious venues, accommodation and on transport routes.
Audacious will provide a map displaying main transport routes, venue/accommodation and the surrounding area.
It is your responsibility to oversee the welfare and safety of your young people at all times. A ratio of 1 leader to 6 same sex delegates is required. We realise that all youth groups are different and that in some instances extra care may be required:
- With younger or more difficult members of your youth group you may want to increase the leader ratio from 1:6 to 1:4. Remember Audacious is for 11 to 35s so you may be able to recruit older leaders who will still enjoy the Audacious experience.
- Allocate individual members of your youth group to a specific leader before you arrive. Perhaps an older member of your youth could assist.
- Set up a buddy system so that your youth always travel in groups.
- Ensure your young people have the mobile phone numbers of your leaders in case of an emergency.
- Arrange a meeting time and point before travelling to and from venues, activitiesyou may be doing, accommodation, etc.
- Travel as a group wherever possible.
What is the accommodation?
Delegates can stay in University accommodation or budget accommodation which consists of church and community centre floors.
As a group do we all need to stay in the same accommodation type?
Groups can be split over a variety of accommodation types. However it is imperative that for each accommodation type there are enough leaders (both male and female). A ratio of 1 leader to no more than 6 same sex delegates is required.
What do I do with my youth during the afternoon and free time?
